Swedish experimentalists Gösta Berlings Saga announce new album and stream single

Fearlessly experimental, deliciously irreverent and defiantly unclassifiable for 25 years, Stockholm’s Gösta Berlings Saga have announced the release of Forever Now, their highly anticipated 7th studio album, on 6th June via Pelagic Records. The quintet have also unveiled the first single / video 'Through The Arches'.

The band comment on the new single: "'Through the Arches' is GBS in 2025 - pure and amplified. One of the first tracks completed for the new album, it packs all the classic GBS ingredients, but turned up a few notches. Melodic, cosmic, chaotic, euphoric—all in one track. The accompanying video, crafted by Martin Gustafsson, is a visual journey into the everlasting and beyond, perfectly capturing the song’s essence."

A masterful collision of intricate songwriting, raw rock spontaneity and their signature disregard for genre limitations, Forever Now rests on no laurels; it’s a driving continuation of a journey that suggests, even after two decades and counting, the band’s best work may still be ahead of them.

On the new album, the band continue: "Super stoked to soon unleash Forever Now upon the world. It’s an album we’ve put our heart, soul and every atom of our beings into. Written, recorded, mixed and produced by ourselves it fills us with great pride that even after 20+ years we still find joy, creativity and new ways to approach music. Forever Now is a journey in search of small fragments of eternity within the present moment - where time dissolves, and music becomes the gateway to the infinite."

Stockholm, the Saga began in 2000 with a creative spark keenly felt between keyboardist David Lundberg and drummer Alexander Skepp. Taking formative inspiration from the ‘60s jazz fusion improvisations of fellow Swedes Hansson & Karlsson, Gösta Berlings Saga broadened their sonic palette with the addition of bassist Gabriel Tapper and guitarist Mathias Danielsson before the release of their debut album Tid Är Ljud in 2006. Danielsson subsequently left the project to be replaced by Einar Baldursson, contributing to the darker and more complex sound of 2009’s Detta Har Hänt, 2011’s Glue Works and 2016’s Sersophane.

The overt manipulation of sound and melody on this trio of early releases helped set Gösta Berlings Saga apart from the rest of the progressive pack, swerving easy cliché and navel gazing nostalgia in favour of a fervently forward-thinking ethos. Undoubtedly influenced by the greats of prog, art-rock, electronica and the avant-garde, Gösta Berlings Saga have remained thrillingly impervious to categorisation.

2017 saw another evolution within the band as Baldursson left to be replaced with Rasmus Booberg whilst percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Jesper Skarin also joined the ranks. Rejuvenated and revitalised, Gösta Berlings Saga’s subsequent albums, ET EX (2018) and Konkret Music (2020), introduced a whole new audience to the band’s idiosyncratic fearless experimentation, breakneck rock ‘n’ roll infused with even more found sound electronics and sonic obscura. Uncompromising and utterly distinct, these albums solidified the band’s belief that staying true to their own artistic vision was always the only way forward.

Forever Now is 10 tracks of hand-crafted chaos that bear all the brilliance of Gösta Berlings Saga’s 25 years of irreverent innovation. Entirely written, recorded, produced and mixed by the band for the very first time, the album sees synthesizers and arpeggiated guitars spiral ever higher, colliding with helter skelter percussion and pulse-racing drums on the way, whilst the band’s innate trust in each other and in their music form the propulsive core of a perpetual energy engine five years in the making.

Although not established as a concept album as such, personal tragedies during the early writing process ultimately left their mark. For a time the band tried to separate their collective creativity from the events of their private lives but, rather than grief and darkness making their presence felt, Gösta Berlings Saga built this album on the pursuit of the eternal - a euphoric glimpse beyond time, where music becomes a bridge between the present and what was and will be, echoing connections that never fade.

Jesper Skarin - Percussion
Gabriel Tapper - Bass
David Lundberg - Keys
Rasmus Booberg - Guitars
Alexander Skepp - Drums

German pop-punk act Indecent Behavior release new single 'Shoot'

Rising German pop-punk band Indecent Behavior have released their new single 'Shoot' via Long Branch Records along with a music video. This follows a busy 2024 which saw them tour with zebrahead and Neck Deep, and take to the stages of Rock am Ring, Rock im Park and Full Force festivals, among others.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/1RBzmxt4LCY

Stream the single 'Shoot' here: http://indecentbehavior.lnk.to/shoot

'Shoot' is a song about the brutal reality of violence - about spilled blood, lost lives, about people who disappear before they even understand why they are fighting. A song full of energy, full of anger and despair. A song that asks the questions that everyone should ask themselves: For what? Why? And when will it finally end?

"We are confronted with war every day," says singer Henrik Bergmann"We hear stories of heroes and victors, glory and honour. But are there any winners in war? While bombs and gunfire fall, people lose everything - their homes, their families, their memories. Nothing but destruction is left behind, while hopes sink into the dust. And all because people find themselves on opposite sides - not by their own choice, but simply because they were born in a different place."

Indecent Behavior impress with powerful hooks and catchy melodies. Their energetic live show creates musical space for optimism in a world where it is becoming increasingly rare. They get your feet tapping, adrenalin flowing and the songs drill into your nerves like healing acupuncture. A good dose of variety ensures an entertaining experience at all times.

Indecent Behavior is a familiar place where you forget your worries and fears. A place where you can share your inner self and simply be yourself.

Henrik Bergmann – Vocals
Christian Noß – Guitar, Vocals
Denis Selzer – Bass, Vocals
Florian Heintz – Drums

Eluveitie release new single 'Awen'

As the release of Eluveitie's new album Ànv approaches, today the band release their uplifting new single 'Awen'.

The track sees the band's more traditional instrumentation at the forefront, shining a spot light on the Celtic roots buried within Eluveitie's core.

The new album Ànv will be released on 25th April 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records. Eluveitie will hit the road again together with Arch Enemy, Amorphis and Gatecreeper in October 2025. All dates are listed below.

Eluveitie frontman Chrigel Glanzmann comments: "'Awen' is musically perhaps one of the album's catchiest songs... sticking our necks out on pretty modern metal music, at the same time with a chorus coming in with that very traditional, mystically melancholic, solemn kind of 'grandeur', much like older Eluveitie songs such as 'Of Fire, Wind & Wisdom', 'Slania's Song', or 'Alesia'. Lyrically it time-travels some fairly bold lines off that several thousand years old mythological text Ànv is based on, into the modern age and makes them speak directly to us and our modern civilizations! We're really happy with and proud of it and we hope you'll like it as much as we do!"

Cytotoxin release title track from forthcoming new album Biographyte

Death metal titans Cytotoxin have unveiled the title track from their forthcoming fifth studio album, Biographyte, accompanied by a chilling music video that pulls listeners into their nightmarish, post-apocalyptic world. Set for release on 11th April, Biographyte takes listeners deep inside the haunting aftermath of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, offering an auditory journey that is as brutal as it is surreal.

Today's single release plunges into the horrifying aftermath of the catastrophic explosion, inspired by the grim fate of firefighters scavenging graphite bricks at ground zero, suffering grotesque, irreversible burns, often paying the ultimate price.  Written in a Phrygian dominant scale, 'Biographyte' also ties itself to the desert-like imagery of the album’s artwork, where the weight of catastrophe is carried like an unrelenting burden.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/fkmaTGH-x2g

Pre-order Biographyte here: www.cytotoxin.de/shop

The band comment on the single: "The title track itself reflects the situation of firefighters collecting graphite bricks on the night of the explosion, suffering irreversible damage to their skin and bodies, often resulting in fatalities. This scene is depicted in the album artwork, which portrays a liquidator carrying the weight of the reactor on his back. Biographyte also showcases the slamming and groovier side of Cytotoxin. The song, written in a Phrygian dominant scale, further ties back to the desert-themed album artwork."

The band have already set the stage for the upcoming album with the release of two powerful stand-alone single 'Hope Terminator' and 'Condemnesia'.  The new tracks offer a fierce preview of what lies ahead, showcasing the band’s signature intensity and skill.

Biographyte takes an immersive dive into Cytotoxin's musical roots, guiding listeners through the irradiated ruins of Pripyat. Each song is devoted to a key location, intricately weaving a biographical narrative around the lives impacted by the Chernobyl disaster. The album's artwork serves as a potent visual metaphor, symbolising humanity's eternal burden in the wake of the reactor’s devastation. The title track poignantly honours the bravery of the firefighters who risked their lives to clear radioactive debris in the immediate aftermath, suffering irreparable harm,a tragedy that claimed many lives. Biographyte is more than just an album; it’s a haunting tribute to history’s darkest moments and the sacrifices made in their wake.

Biographyte was recorded by Kohle and Daniel at Kohlekeller Studios, with mixing and mastering handled by Mendel bij de Leij at Mendel Audio. The album’s striking artwork was created by German Latorres of Hostile Tattoos, capturing the haunting and intense themes of the record.

Witness the unrelenting assault of Cytotoxin live as they take to the road throughout April and May across the EU and UK. On the fateful night of 26 April, 1986, the explosion at the Chernobyl power plant altered the course of history, leaving an indelible mark on the world. Drawing inspiration from this catastrophic event, the German death metal band Cytotoxin was born in 2010, bringing a level of intensity that would forever redefine the genre. Combining intricate, brutal riffs with a focus on the devastating consequences of the reactor disaster, the band quickly garnered attention within the scene. Their debut album, Plutonium Heaven (2011), was a force to be reckoned with, followed by Radiophobia (2012), which led to a three-album deal with the renowned Unique Leader Records.

Cytotoxin soon became known for their ferocious live performances and unparalleled precision, establishing themselves as a cornerstone of the technical death metal community. With Gammageddon (2017), they cemented their place in the genre, while Nuklearth (2020) showcased their expansive creativity and songwriting evolution. Following several successful European tours, major festival appearances and their U.S. and Canadian debut in November 2024, Cytotoxin now stand poised to push further into new territories with their latest singles, Hope Terminator and Condemnesia.

Norwegian prog-metallers HYPERMASS stream video on EP release day

Norway’s HYPERMASS return with their much-anticipated, new EP, Apparition Day, out today via Seek and Strike. The band have also released a video for the track, 'Cult Vendor'.

Watch the 'Cult Vendor' video here: https://youtu.be/7i8L52a2rok

 Pre-order Apparition Day here: https://orcd.co/hypermassad

HYPERMASS push the boundaries of conventionality showcasing their most riff-driven, catchy and ambitious work to date. Apparition Day is a natural evolution where grooviness and intensity are dialed up to the maximum, solidifying their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in modern metal. This is a must listen for fans of Between The Buried and Me, Periphery and Sikth.

HYPERMASS state: "Our new EP, Apparition Day, has been in the works for quite some time and we are truly excited to bring it to life and show you all what we have been working so hard on. Musically, it is more of everything that defines our style. The grooves, the melodies and the variety have all been kicked up a notch from our last output. while we also delve into some previously unexplored territory. On this release, we incorporate elements from genres such as jazz, blues, electronic, etc. Our main goal is to always push our music forward no matter what, and it’s important to us that we keep things fresh while maintaining our signature sound. Lyrically, the EP is a natural step forward from our debut album, Empyrean, as we explore a lot of the same themes throughout.

"On this EP we wrote about the human condition in the modern world, and how our craving for convenience trumps our social and creative needs. With the rise of artificial intelligence, we see a lot of people embracing it with open arms without a shred of critical thinking as to what is going to happen if we let it. There are a lot more themes throughout, but that would give you an idea of what to expect. As our last album was more conceptual, this has five stand-alone songs with each song having its own clear identity both lyrically and musically.

"The EP’s second single/video is for 'Cult Vendor,’ which is a track we did pretty early in the writing process. When we wrote the main riff we knew this track had huge potential and had to finish it. It’s more mid-paced and groovy and has more of a thrash/death-element than the previous single. It has an immediate, undeniable catchiness to it that we decided it had to be one of the singles. The song is really fun to play live as well and gets the crowd going every time.

"The coalescing of styles has resulted in our signature sound. While a lot of modern metal bands seem to prioritize either heavy breakdowns or lightning-speed shredding, the most important thing to us is the riffs and the grooves. Our main goal while writing each song is to find new and exciting ways for it to groove. That has always been the centerpiece of our music, and we find ways to work around that to make it as interesting as possible using different layers and atmospheres. A lot of the time the vibe of our music is actually quite uplifting as well, unlike a lot of other bands within our genre.

"As the themes explore a lot of dark sides of the human psyche, we always feel it is best to balance that with a more upbeat approach to the music. We always love it when bands and artists have a contrast between the music and lyrics, as it makes the experience more multilayered and interesting. The most important thing to us is to keep the music fun and engaging, and if people wish, they can delve more into the themes of the lyrics on their own."

Mavis stream new single 'Sentinel Hill'

Mavis unleash their most electrifying track to date with 'Sentinel Hill', a high-energy, bouncy metalcore anthem packed with earth-shaking breakdowns, hauntingly catchy melodies, and a still urgent message (maybe now more than ever). Told through the eyes of a supernatural creature like their last single 'DNA', the song explores the relentless clash between humankind and nature, as ancient titans are called upon to restore balance before it's too late.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/R4Ys9bibHVU

Stream here: https://arisingempire.com/sentinelhill

With towering riffs, explosive drums, and soaring hooks, 'Sentinel Hill' is a call to arms for a world on the brink. The song’s almost Dungeons & Dragons-inspired lead melody in the chorus adds an epic, mystical quality, drawing the listener deeper into its apocalyptic tale—a refreshing and unique twist for metalcore.

Directed by Chris Hesse (Strangeworks), the video brings the song’s themes to life, shifting between majestic nature and cold industrial landscapes—a stark visual reflection of the battle between life and destruction.

Produced by Manuel Renner at Überlärm Studios, 'Sentinel Hill' pushes Mavis’ sound further than ever, merging razor-sharp aggression with anthemic, haunting beauty.

Lord Of The Lost unveil first part of album trilogy

A work, a transformation, a re-entry into the melancholic self – OPVS NOIR is in no danger of becoming an offspring of understatement, neither in its title nor in its musical opulence. And rightly so: Not only will it be the first album as a six-piece band, but it also marks the beginning of an entire album trilogy, set to be released in multiple editions, including, of course, strictly limited collector's items.

Each volume contains 11 songs, totaling 33 tracks that not only conclude the delightfully eccentric chapter of Blood & Glitter but also initiate an uncompromising return to the dark core of the band. While Lord Of The Lost previously found themselves in the spotlight of vast open stages, OPVS NOIR Vol. 1, set for release on 8th August via Napalm Records, represents a confident descent into previously untouched emotional depths.

Vocalist Chris Harms about the album: “Darkness, melancholy, loneliness - all words that often have negative connotations, that we may associate with danger, sadness and loss, and not without reason. But darkness can also be security, melancholy the warm and sentimental feeling of our memories, and loneliness becomes necessary silence, peace and inner contemplation. OPVS NOIR is a travel guide, or perhaps also a travelogue, through the dark sides of our inner world, which so often move precisely in the area of tension between what we emotionally categorize as positive or negative. And with Vol. 1, all of this is just the beginning of this 3-part journey...”

OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 will be available in the following formats:

Wooden Book Collectors Box

3 CD Digipak in cross format, containing OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 CD plus two placeholders for the upcoming OPVS NOIR Vol. 2 and OPVS NOIR Vol. 3, 48 pages booklet, Bonus Live CD (details to be revealed later) plus 80 pages notebook with handwritten album lyrics by Chris Harms – Napalm Records Mailorder Europe & LORDSHOP exclusive (strictly limited)

Earbook Collectors Edition with 48 pages, containing OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 CD plus two placeholders for the upcoming OPVS NOIR Vol.2 and OPVS NOIR Vol. 3 – Napalm Records Mailorder Europe & LORDSHOP exclusive (strictly limited)

1-LP Liquid Gatefold Vinyl NOIR & MOONSHINE SILVER with 12p booklet – Napalm Records Mailorder Europe exclusive (strictly limited)

1-LP Gatefold Vinyl Deluxe SPLATTERED DARK NIGHT BLUE (translucent) with 12 pages booklet – Napalm Records Mailorder exclusive (strictly limited)

OPVS NOIR is not only a musically exciting step but also a bold one. This becomes clear when looking at Lord Of The Lost's immediate past: support for Iron Maiden on two European tours, followed by their first North American shows in over a decade, sold-out headlining tours, participation in the final of the EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2023, a #1 chart entry with the previous album Blood & Glitter, celebrated performances at the biggest festivals worldwide – they even had the honour of meeting King Charles in person. Hand on heart: How easy would it have been to keep riding this wave of success just a little longer? But that’s not how Lord Of The Lost operate – the only constant remains change.

But what is the essence of Lord Of The Lost in 2025? That is one of the questions OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 fearlessly begins to answer. Once again, the band proves not only musical excellence but also masterful craftsmanship: Produced by Chris Harms, recorded, mixed, and mastered at the legendary CHAMELEON STUDIOS in Hamburg, the 11 tracks hit with a force and brilliance that immediately transport us into a dark yet colourful ballroom. From there, the tone is set: Dark Wave Metal on an amphitheater scale.

Everything is new, yet every note feels familiar. Behind each chorus awaits a surprise, in every line, a new door opens to further uncharted paths within the LOTL universe. This band takes the expectations of its ever-growing fanbase and molds them into songs that transcend genre boundaries – and turn moments into monuments that carry us all along: No one lost behind!

On the new single, the band comment: "'Hivemind' deals with the idea that we are all connected, as if humanity is sharing a collective consciousness through opinions & fake news, that we all as a society have consumed through the likes of social media. In many cases this shared information can have very negative results, with masses subscribing to the wrong opinion being sold as the right one."

Hailing from Belfast, Archives have already picked up huge momentum across the UK. They have seen big support from BBC Introducing and have done multiple tours in the UK and beyond. For fans of Bad Omens, While She Sleeps, Architects, the new single is heavily infuenced by Cyberpunk (game) & The Matrix (movie), which can be heard in the production leaning into electronic elements & beats.

8/3/25 - Marrs Bar - Worcester
9/3/25 - New Cross Inn - London
