Imperial Triumphant comment: "It is seen through the ages that universal truth rises to the top. With this in mind, leaders of civilization are divided in control methods deployed through various mechanisms, some for the sake of humanity and some for the sake of interests that don't necessarily benefit humanity. The sum total of the entire apparatus then reaches a boiling point, after which time agendas are revealed.

"On a much higher level exists that which lies beyond the five senses, beyond the science and materialism matrix. Many sacred texts worthy of protection by the people have endured while existing in relative obscurity as allegory. The knowledge gets passed down through generational cycles and ultimately makes visible that collective connection in all the world and all of us. This lights up the consciousness with a venerable force like electricity and music.

"Under the watchful eye, Mars slew the dragon, and seizing its teeth out of the great gaping mouth, scattered them broadcast like seeds unto us."

Equally rooted in eclectic black metal, the most claustrophobic notions of free jazz, and the concept of urban cityscapes as canyons of horror, Imperial Triumphant's signature sound has set a new standard for the possibilities of extreme music. Most recently, the trio released a new version of 2018's Vile Luxury; often considered Imperial Triumphant at their most accessible, this seminal record was remixed & remastered by longtime contributor Colin Marston (Krallice, Gorguts), allowing stygian dimensions and monolithic intents to seep through.

Leaders of the new wave of nu-metal TETRARCH return with first single in three years

With tireless perseverance and distinct musical and production talent, the unrelenting ascent of top-charting modern nu-metal stars TETRARCH has been palpable in the scene since the release of their first album, 2017's Freak, followed by their Napalm Records label debut, the highly-acclaimed Unstable, in 2021. Now, after three years of intensely focused growth, the band are thrilled to release their first taste of brand new music - launching their next unmissable era.

Today, following yesterday's world premiere on SiriusXM Liquid Metal with Jose “Metal Ambassador” Mangin, TETRARCH's gripping new 90s industrial-injected anthem 'Live Not Fantasize' has fully impacted earth. Pummeling guitars and drums blend with intense electronic flourishes, as guitar icon for the new era Diamond Rowe deftly accents the eerie vocals of Josh Fore with quick riffage and a dynamic, spine-tingling guitar solo.

Partnered with a high-quality, energetic, story-driven music video, the track - co-produced by renowned producer Dave Otero, Diamond Rowe and Josh Fore - provides an intense preview for what's to come for TETRARCH in the new year.

Guitarist Diamond Rowe comments about the track and video: "We are extremely excited to release 'Live Not Fantasize' to the world. We had a lot of fun writing this song because of how heavy and aggressive it is, while still having a big catchy chorus that gets stuck in your head. This song is about never letting the negative feelings and thoughts in your mind define who you are and doing everything you can to get through tough times to find peace within yourself - so that you can live instead of dreaming of something better."
Fierce individuality and a fearless embrace of the outsider are at the heart of TETRARCH. Combining energetic modern musical aggression and lyrical honesty while organically and proudly honouring nu-metal's foundations, the band leads the charge of the genre's new wave - appealing to fans both in and outside of the metal scene, and enthusiastically providing newcomers a gateway into heavy music.

The band’s tireless hard work and relentless determination has established them as one of the top newer bands in heavy music, catching the attention of major media including Pollstar, Billboard, Revolver, Alternative Press, Guitar World, Guitar Player, Premier Guitar, Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, many in which lead guitarist Diamond Rowe was the first African American female lead guitarist from the heavy metal genre to be featured. Featured on Spotify playlists such as Kickass Metal, Rock Hard, New Blood and New Metal Tracks, the band has also seen stellar support from Apple Music and their users, appearing on several additional playlists.

TETRARCH’s most recent album, Unstable, received massive critical acclaim. Upon release, Unstable's debut single, 'I’m Not Right', cracked the Mediabase Active Rock Top 30 and has garnered over 13 million combined cross-platform streams to date. Follow up single 'You Never Listen' received support from SiriusXM, HardDrive, Full Metal Jackie and many more of the country's leading active rock outlets. Having appeared on major festivals such as Epicenter and Exit 111 and boasting tours with genre icons such as Sevendust, Atreyu and Nonpoint, TETRARCH are poised to elevate themselves to the next level with the mighty nonconformist’s spirit that has driven them since day one.

US deathcore trio Saltwound announce debut LP, stream new single

Following their recent signing to SharpTone Records, Northern Californian deathcore juggernauts Saltwound have announced their long-awaited, debut full-length album, The Temptation Of Pain, will be released on 1st November.

Saltwound's debut is a colossal beast, seething with furious brutality that roars to life with the most ferocious riffs metalcore fans will hear this year. Featuring tracks like the previously released single 'Hollow,' The Temptation Of Pain rears its head with intense chaos as elements from deathcore and metalcore collide in a violent explosion of sound.

Today, the band reveals the record's second single, 'Severance,' which features guest Nick Chance of Distinguisher and is accompanied by the turbulent music video below.

Commenting on the song's message, vocalist Spencer Timmons says:

“It’s my wish to separate myself from the world in a macro and micro sense. In my personal life and what I see going on, it’s nothing but pain, misery, and things I can’t stand. So, you want to be set free and separated from this darkness. I love music more than anything, but so much of this industry repulses me.”

About SALTWOUND:

Sporting a hunger bordering on bloodlust, Saltwound uncompromisingly pursue progression at all costs. The Sacramento, CA band—Spencer Timmons [vocals], Shawn Williams [guitar], and Marty Delgado [bass]—deftly tame a chaotic hybrid of deathcore and metalcore with earthquaking grooves and insidious melodies, proudly dubbed “NORCAL VIOLENCE.

Buzzing with millions of streams, they continue to fearlessly level up on their 2024 full-length debut for SharpTone RecordsThe Temptation of Pain.

With every release, we try to create something that sounds different from what we’ve done in the past,” notes Spencer. “We never want to be a one-trick pony. It’s easy to find a niche and suck the well dry. We’re trying to evolve though. I think we achieved that with this album.

During 2020, the musicians initiated this perpetual forward motion. Vol. 1: (DEAD)WEIGHT EP introduced their inimitable intensity to the masses. The title track '(DEAD)WEIGHT' amassed over 1.6 million Spotify streams followed by 'Assault // Split Lip' with 516K Spotify streams. The momentum only picked up with VOL. 2: DESPAIR [2022] and In the Shadow of the Valley of Death [2023]. Along the way, they shared the stage with everyone from Maylene and the Sons of Disaster and Islander to Bleeding Through, Ov Sulfur, Attila, Gideon, and Impending Doom.

During late 2023, the guys hunkered down and assembled what would become The Temptation of Pain. This time around, the group intentionally streamlined the process by adopting “a communal approach to writing” with all of the members actively contributing. Moreover, a core theme underscored much of the lyrical content.

To me, ‘Temptation’ is more like attraction,” Spencer reveals. “As a culture and a society, we’re attracted to things that hurt us and cause us pain. Negativity gets more ‘clicks’. These aren’t positive things that uplift our lives, but we gravitate to them. It applies to my personal life. Being in a band is hard, so why don’t I put my effort into going back to school and getting a safe nine-to-five job? It’s because I’m attracted to what causes me stress. The same goes for relationships. So, every song touches on an element of being drawn to what causes hurt and pain.

Charlotte Wessels reveals dramatic new single featuring Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy

Dutch singer-songwriter Charlotte Wessels (ex-Delain) embarks on a dark and heavy journey as she unveils the latest single from her upcoming solo album, The Obsession, out this Friday, 20th September, 2024 via Napalm Records. The new track entitled 'Ode To The West Wind' features powerhouse vocals by Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy, as this collaborative masterpiece mixes Charlotte's enchanting style with Alissa's strong presence.

Pre-order The Obsession here: https://lnk.to/CW-TheObsession/napalmrecords

After chart-breaking success and ruling stages worldwide with Delain, Wessels takes her solo career to the next level with her first traditional full-length, full-band solo album. Having already gained a devoted following with her previous solo offerings, The Obsession is sure to impress fans and critics alike. The multifaceted record marks an exciting and touching listening experience and, together with its honest storytelling, it acts as Wessels’ most mature solo offering so far.

Charlotte Wessels comments on 'Ode To The West Wind': “I’m thrilled to present the fifth single from The Obsession – and my fifth collaboration with the incomparable Alissa White-Gluz. Many of our songs together are inspired by or based on classic poetry, and ‘Ode to the West Wind’, drawn from Percy Shelley's poem of the same name, is the latest addition to this thematic journey. Shelley's poem reflects his admiration for the untamable force of nature and his thoughts on his own legacy. For the music video, we explored humanity's impact on the natural world (spoiler: it’s not pretty) by reimagining iconic artworks like Caspar David Friedrich's Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog and Raphael's cherubs from the Sistine Madonna, only this time suffused with pollution, wings made of trash, and covered in toxic waste.

"I'm incredibly excited about how this song has evolved through my collaboration with the band and
Alissa, I can’t wait to unleash this wall of sound at our upcoming shows, and of course I can't wait for you to experience this song in the full context of The Obsession – out in just a few days!”

Charlotte Wessels will join VOLA on their Friend of a Phantom EU Tour 2024.

UK dates with VOLA:

Nov 22: UK London, Heaven
Nov 23: UK Nottingham, Rescue Rooms
Nov 24: UK Glasgow, G2
Nov 25: UK Manchester, Club Academy
Nov 26: UK Bristol, SWX

Whilst still writing and producing the songs in her Six Feet Under basement home studio and sharing their first incarnations with her patrons, Charlotte Wessels is now taking the songs off her new album The Obsession to the next level with a band of her fellow ex-Delain cohorts: Timo Somers (guitars, additional arrangements), Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije (bass) and Joey Marin de Boer (drums), as well as Sophia Vernikov (piano/hammond) contributing to the new heavier sound. The album also features arrangements by Vikram Shankar (Silent Skies, Pain of Salvation), cello by Elianne Anemaat, was mixed by Guido Aalbers (Muse, Coldplay, The Gathering) and mastered by Andy VanDette (Porcupine Tree, VOLA, Dream Theater).

Wessels on the new album: "On the one hand, this album tells a very personal story – through its unintended theme of fear, obsessive thoughts and the escapes from them – and at the same time it represents the joy of finding the songs' true forms with everyone involved in the making of this record. That’s why I chose The Obsession as a title. It refers to my personal challenges with OCD that inspired many of the songs - but I’ve also started referring to the band as The Obsession - because there were moments in the studio with them that truly reminded me of why I'm obsessed with making music in the first place."

With thousands of monthly listeners on Spotify and a loyal fan base on Patreon, Charlotte Wessels has already made a mark with her earlier solo endeavors, Tales From Six Feet Under (2021) and Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II (2022). Now, she is taking her career to the next level with The Obsession. These compilations showcased her ability to blend various musical styles and deeply personal lyrics, earning her widespread acclaim. The Obsession is expected to build on this foundation, offering fans an even more immersive and powerful musical experience.

Themes like fear, obsessive thoughts and escapism run rampant on the album, presenting dark and heavy on songs like 'The Exorcism', 'The Crying Room' and 'Ode To The West Wind' (feat. Alissa White-Gluz/Arch Enemy). In addition, there are songs that offer a more upbeat approach to the subject – like 'Dopamine' (feat. Simone Simons/Epica) which deals with SSRI-induced numbness, or 'Praise' – which sings the gospel of needing external validation in order to feel anything. The reimagining of fan-favorite 'Soft Revolution' won’t leave a dry eye in the room, while 'Soulstice' and 'Serpentine' present an unprecedented dark sensuality. Each song itself functions like an exorcism, an attempt to cast out a little of the fear it deals with.

Wessels comments on the guests: “I’m extremely grateful and proud to add Simone Simons and Alissa White-Gluz to the line-up of this album. They are creative powerhouses that I have so much love and respect for. Whenever we get to work together is an absolute treat and they really elevated the songs with their performances.”

Escuela Grind release new single 'Toothless'

New England extreme metal powerhouse, Escuela Grind, will release their new LP, Dreams on Algorithms, on 18th October via MNRK Heavy (High on Fire, Slomosa).

Today, the band drop their crushing new track 'Toothless', and its accompanying video, directed by Seby X Martinez for Negative Kitty (Body Count, [adult swim]). The weighty 'Toothless' sees Escuela Grind deliver a crunching Mortician-meets-Celtic Frost cut that is equal parts two-step tumble and weighty wood chop as vocalist Katerina Economou exclaims, "It would feel better to fail than never to be tested".

Stream Escuela Grind's 'Toothless' and pre-order the album here: https://escuelagrind.ffm.to/dreamsonalgorithms

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/PjRwWVs8-Hg

Recorded at Salem, Massachusetts' GodCity studio with producer Kurt Ballou, and mastered by Nick Townsend (Dr. Dre, Betty Davis) the record is the highly anticipated follow-up to Escuela Grind's celebrated 2022 full-length debut, Memory Theater, a recording hailed as "an opus of extremity" by The New York Times.

Speaking on the album title, Dreams on Algorithms, vocalist Katerina Economou says, "We wanted to write an album that identifies what it’s like to consume in this era we live in: what we receive through our phones, the social media landscape, and personalised algorithms, and how it is translated by our subconscious. I think most people can relate to something in their online sphere infecting their dreams. This transfer was something we really wanted to expand on, and all of the songs have themes relating to dream analysis and technology."

Dreams on Algorithms was launched with the first single 'Turbulence', which showcased clean vocals over an earworm chorus - a first for Escuela Grind - without pulling away from unhinged brutality. Stream the 'Turbulence' video, directed by Michael Jari Davidson (Alice In Chains), at this location.

Striking cover art by AC Tremblay foreshadows the inherent power and thematic investment contained in Dreams on Algorithms"We have collaborated with the incredible AC Tremblay once more to create this vision of Dreams on Algorithms, says the band. "We wanted a similar expression as our last album, but with a different colour palette. The art of Kurt Seligmann, Bauhaus theater sets, Nightmare on Elm Street, Eiko Ishioka, and the Cremaster Cycle were source materials of inspiration for this visual storytelling. The amount of detail and attention that AC Tremblay pays to his drawing is what we love most about working with him. You’ll be able to find many Easter eggs from the album's lyrics within the artwork. We’re still finding new details."

Unquestionably one of the hardest working bands in music today, Escuela Grind will launch a North American headlining tour which will begin on 8th October in Omaha, NE. The 16-city trek will feature support from For Your Health and Wisdom & War.

“In our hometown, there was a guy named ‘Bones’," says Ritch"He was about six-foot-seven-inches tall like Lurch from The Addams Family. I’d get weed from him, but he sold everything you could think of. Just weed for me though,” he chuckles.

Texas Hippie Coalition will release their new album, Gunsmoke, via MNRK Heavy on 4th October, 2024. This time, Big Dad Ritch and his crew wholeheartedly embrace their country and Southern rock stylings as well as a lifelong passion for westerns.

With drinks poured, fists raised, and smiles wide, Texas Hippie Coalition (THC) always know how to have a good time. A collective of tried-and-true rabble-rousers and dyed-in-the-wool storytellers, the Texas quintet - Big Dad Ritch [vocals], Cord Pool [guitar], Nevada Romo [guitar], Rado Romo [bass], and Joey Mandigo [drums] - spike ass-whopping hard rock with a kick of country swagger and a whole lot of Texas grit and gusto.

Gathering tens of millions of streams, logging thousands of miles on the road, and energising countless fans, they deliver ten anthems tailormade to simmer and scorch on Gunsmoke.

“In terms of the lyrics, the vibe, and where THC come from, we definitely went home on this album,” says Ritch. “It represents the Wild West Texas-Oklahoma area. You’ve got a little red dirt country spilling over into the storytelling and metal. It’s a return to the dirt where we came from.”

A Killer's Confession release new album Victim 1 via MNRK Heavy

A Killer's Confession, fronted by vocalist and mastermind Waylon Reavis, plunge past the point of no return, offering a captivating album of melodic hard rock dosed with pummelling metal and industrial stylings on their latest LP, Victim 1.

This massive metallic offering arrived today, 13th September, via MNRK Heavy. The band have also shared the track 'Voices', featuring Gemini Syndrome's Aaron Nordstrom

"The song 'Voices' is very special to me because for the first time I get to work with Aaron Nordstrom," says Reavis. "He has been a very close friend of mine for years. When we wrote the song, we decided that we wanted to be different sides of a conscience. One being darker and the other being reason. This was such a fun song to write because when you work with someone as talented as Aaron — everything seems to come together quickly and effortlessly."

The singer also pulled back the curtain on the album as a whole, saying, "Victim 1 might possibly be my favorite album I've ever been a part of. AKC stepped completely out of the box to write Victim 1. I brought in new producers [Dusty Boles and Evan McKeever] to help rebrand the sound of the band. I took most of last year off and did not tour in order to write this album."

He continues: "The focus I found during this time really helped me flesh out the new sound and the direction in which I wanted to go. Personally, I feel that this is the true sound of A Killer's Confession, and in my honest opinion, I feel like this is the first true AKC album. Every time I listen to the album, I sit back and smile, because I've never had that feeling before with AKC. The tone and atmosphere is completely different from anything we've ever done."

Victim 1 is AKC's their fourth full-length offering and MNRK Music Group debut. "A year ago, I was like, 'What if we have a character who is fed up with the world?,'" recalls Reavis, offering in glimpse in the album's darkest recesses. "In his heart, he knows what's going on isn't right, so he does something about it. On each song, he addresses a sin — whether in himself or against some horrible person. The conversations are either in his head or with the victim. You think, 'If I was a guy who had the ability to find these people, how would I react?' He's got to do this, yet it's destroying him since he's truly a kind spirit. He has no regrets though."

After releasing three seminal albums as a member of Mushroomhead, Reavis retreated from music, only for it to draw him back in 2016. He resurfaced at the helm of A Killer's Confession, delivering three cult favourite albums — Unbroken [2017], The Indifference of Good Men [2019], and Remember [2021]. Along the way, the band tallied tens of millions of streams in addition to collaborating with everyone from Brian "Head" Welch of Korn and Love And Death to Chad Gray of Mudvayne and HELLYEAH. Joined by bassist JP Cross, guitarist James Skritch, and drummer Kegan King, they also captivated crowds on tour.

During 2022, Reavis experienced an epiphany. "I had never thought about following a concept like this before," he said. "However, I decided to focus, live up to the name, and be A Killer's Confession." He hit the studio with collaborators and producers Dusty Boles [Make Me Famous] and Evan Mckeever [Nine Shrines]. Shocking this vision to life, he emerged with the 10-track equivalent of "falling down a YouTube rabbit hole of unsolved mysteries."

A Killer's Confession tell a story you won't be able to look away from... or forget — both lyrically and sonically. "A Killer's Confession is all of us," Reavis shares. "It's not just the band. It's the people who listen, dive in, and learn from it. It's each and every one of us deep inside. We all have killed off something in our lives. I hope you find some solace in the record. We don't have to be so divided. We're more alike than we think we are."

Indeed, we are.

Alyx Holcombe presents: MANTRA - an immersive fan experience

Award-winning radio presenter Alyx Holcombe presents MANTRA, a brand new monthly event hosted with DHP and UTA at The Grace in Islington, London. The immersive experience will not only give fans the opportunity to witness incredible live music, as well as DJ sets from Alyx herself, but to meet their new favourite bands, get items signed and pick up merch, all the while supporting one of London's grassroots venues.

The first event, set to take place on 15th October, will see rising quartet unpeople make their headline debut, topped with the launch of their brand new single. Support will come from alt-rock/shoegaze quintet Oversize

Tickets for the event are on general sale here:

https://www.alttickets.com/alyx-holcombe-presents-mantra-tickets
https://link.dice.fm/D6e0be4dfa86

Alyx explains:

"MANTRA is an immersive fan experience. There’s not a place anymore where you can have a meet and greet with an artist you’ve started loving which won’t cost an arm and a leg. The world of socials has taken away that real life human connection from bands and fans, their DMs are flooded and not every message can be replied to. I want to get the current and next generation excited about new bands again and help the bands create that solid network of fans. The artists on the line-up for these nights are ones I’ve championed from the start and truly believe in. Can’t wait for you to check them out!"

unpeople comment:

"We are incredibly excited that we’ve been able to tie in our first headline show with the first edition of Alyx Holcombe’s MANTRA. Alyx has been without a doubt one of the biggest and most consistent supporters of our band and we feel very safe putting the fate of our headline debut in her hands. We can’t wait for the show, and feel very lucky to be working with one of the most iconic women in UK rock and metal!

"There is no one more qualified on the UK alternative scene to be putting on a showcase of new and exciting bands than
Alyx. She has always had her finger on the pulse and is truly someone that we regard as a tastemaker in our genre. The MANTRA concept is going to provide an exciting new live platform for bands like us, with Alyx’s seal of approval acting as a guarantee to gig goers that they’re in for a night of great new music."

Check out unpeople's recent single 'waste' here: https://youtu.be/ZNvMLZA6NyQ

Oversize add:

“We’re honoured to be asked to play the first night of MANTRA. Alyx is at the forefront championing emerging alternative artists in the UK (including ourselves!). Live music is one of, if not the biggest pillars of being an alternative artist, so for Alyx to extend her voice into the live music space is such a great opportunity for people to discover and connect with new music and artists beyond their screens."

Check out Oversize's latest single 'Salt' (feat. Heavenward) here: https://youtu.be/Dp-aNIBMufg

Scott Kennedy from DHP concludes:

"Beyond excited to bring a brand new music night to life with the legend Alyx Holcombe! It’s a celebration of emerging talent with a twist, breaking away from the usual new music nights. What makes this night more special is that it’s open to everyone aged 14 and up, giving younger fans a rare opportunity to dive into the live music scene and discover new sounds in an inclusive and welcoming space. Music should be accessible to all, and we can’t wait to see the energy that a young audience brings. It's a chance to redefine what live music experiences can be and build something special with those who matter most - the fans."

Alyx is the host of the BBC Radio 1 Indie Show and BBC Introducing Rock on Radio 1. She is one of the go-to voices for the rock scene and is known for shining a spotlight on new underground bands across all of her radio shows. She has previously hosted stages at Download Festival, Slam Dunk and Radio 1’s Big Weekend. Alyx has also DJ’d at festivals and warmed up for some of your favourite rock and metal bands on their tours.

Southampton metalcore juggernaut Our Hollow, Our Home have released their newest single 'The Worst In Me', another glimpse of their upcoming album - their last - Hope & Hell (27th September, Arising Empire).

The latest single returns to their roots with a dynamic and intense sound, spotlighting the raw emotional depth and technical prowess that the band is known for. This release is a stark contrast to their more subdued tracks, offering listeners a powerful, cathartic experience that reaffirms their status in the metalcore scene.

The single will be available on their forthcoming album Hope & Hell, available as CD and limited coloured vinyl - and is now available on all major streaming platforms.

The level of relatability, coupled with their relentless touring with the likes of A Day To Remember, Asking Alexandria and Blessthefall and high profile slots at festivals like Graspop, Nova Rock, Summerblast and Jera On Air, has seen the band command an ever growing army of highly dedicated followers; they have over 115,000 monthlies and 50M streams on Spotify, have been viewed over 9 million times on Youtube and have over 29,000 Instagram followers and 107,000 on Facebook and 2017’s debut album Hartsick reached the top spot of the Itunes chart for rock and metal in the UK, as well as placing in the top ten in the USA, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Italy and Germany.

They were also boosted by their hugely popular cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’ in 2017, which was picked up by BBC Radio One’s Greg James and subsequently topped the iTunes UK rock and metal chart, and racked up over 300,000 plays on YouTube on its first week of release.

For a band who have handled their own operations internally without the help of major label or industry backing till today, that is a mightily impressive number, and testament to the devotion Our Hollow, Our Home have to their craft. But it’s more than just the numbers that are impressive, it’s the way in which those people have connected with the band. Be it their lyrical content, their staunchly DIY approach, their high energy live shows or their down to earth attitude, Our Hollow, Our Home have connected with their audience in a way that cannot be forced or faked.
