Drawing influence from Biffy Clyro, Reuben and Thrice, Your Life is Over Now... is a much more lyrical body of work than Bicurious’ previous material, as the band tread new sonic ground. Thematically, the album explores the various facets of the idea of family - including Bicurious' own fans, who crowdfunded over €9000 to help make the record.
On the new single, guitarist/vocalist Taran Plouzané comments: “‘Uncle Kevin’ is a very emotional song, and speaks of a difficult family situation that someone very close to me has been going through since they were a child. It’s something that happens to so many people, and I hope the song brings something positive to someone out there who might have gone through a similar situation.”
Drummer Gavin Purcell states: “This track gets me right in the gut, especially the outro. The crescendo with the lyric ‘You'll never be alone’ sung throughout reminded me of the last phone call I had with my friend Hannah before she sadly passed away. The voice note at the end of this song is one I got from Hannah in relation to a funny song from a TikTok she sent me. ‘Uncle Kevin’ wasn't written about Hannah, and it was written before she passed away, but I suppose that's one of the great things about music - it can create different meanings for different people, and those meanings can change over time.”
The duo are heading out on a UK/Ireland in October and November to celebrate the release of the album. Catch them at one of the following dates:
Oct 15: UK Glasgow Hug and Pint

Bicurious are Gavin Purcell (drums) and Taran Plouzané (guitar/vocals); a confused, loud two-piece from Dublin, Ireland. They’ve built a loyal fanbase through extensive touring and have won over crowds both at home and abroad, establishing themselves as a recognisable force on the European rock scene.
Known for riff sing-alongs, grooves that open up mosh pits and get heads banging, and the undeniable chemistry between the two remarkable musicians, Bicurious have taken their captivating live show across Europe for the last seven years.
Bicurious juxtapose spacey and rhythmic with heavy and delirious. They build wide, engaging soundscapes that sway between math-rock riffs, post-rock progressions and noisy breakdowns, while keeping a strong focus on catchy hooks. The band’s songs have been known to feature vocal samples from political figures, aiming to bring to light social injustice in Ireland and beyond.
Formed in 2016, Bicurious released their debut singles 'Sugar Beats' and 'T.O.I' in 2017, followed by their debut EP I'm So Confused - crowdfunded by fans via a fundraising campaign and a sold-out fundraiser gig. Released in 2018, Bicurious celebrated with a sold-out show at Whelan's, Dublin. The lead single from the EP, 'Sleep', has clocked up over three million streams on Spotify.
In 2019 Bicurious released the single 'I Don't Do Drugs, I Just Sweat a Lot', supported with UK and Ireland tours, and festival appearances at Knockanstockan, Vantastival, Electric Picnic and more in summer 2019. With momentum continuing, Bicurious' debut album (re)constructed was unveiled in July 2021, to critical acclaim from press and fans alike, including Metal Hammer, Prog Magazine and GuitarWorld.
(re)constructed thematically follows a timeline of events highlighting the members’ dramatic life changes in the three years leading to the release. The aftermath of the album release saw Bicurious perform at ArcTanGent festival in 2022 and 2023, Portals Festival and The Great Escape to name but a few.
And now to 2024, with new label home Big Scary Monsters and second album Your Life is Over Now... The record, which was created over 18 months, three countries and five recording studios is testament to just how far this special, deliriously raucous duo, have come.
