Winterfylleth launch new custom 'Green Cathedral' guitar pedal
Winterfylleth have launched their own custom guitar pedal via Technavolt. Named after their song of the same name, Green Cathedral is an atmospheric, dynamic reverb pedal, designed for, and with Chris Naughton (Winterfylleth, vocals & guitar) to add ambience and depth to the live sound of the band's performances.
The profile and tone of the Reverb is based on the clean / lead guitar sounds from the song of the same name, 'Green Cathedral' from their 2016 album, The Dark Hereafter.
Covering both sonic spaces of clean passages and pairing perfectly with high gain metal, it couldn’t just be an off the peg solution.
The onboard controls, 'Mix' and 'Dwell' are there to tailor a sound to the users tastes, both in terms of the ‘size’ of the reverb and also with how fast it dissipates (via the Dwell control). This is then allied to how much of the signal the user wants blended into the reverberation via the Mix control. For a small space room style reverb, dial the dwell down for a shorter decay, mix to taste.
If you want cavernous reflections that go on for days, crank the dwell and mix to get lost in the ether. This reverb has a subtle modulation to invoke a change in the sound reflections to liven the effect, when compared to often dull sounding larger reverbs.
The Green Cathedral has an internal volume trim pot to precisely match your dry signal – or to give it a boost for some ethereal passages. This reverb is made to complement the users rig and playing no matter the genre or gain levels.
The pedal will be limited edition, and the first 50 pedals will come signed by vocalist/guitarist, Chris Naughton

About Winterfylleth
British atmospheric black metal pioneers, Winterfylleth, emerged in 2006 and gained immediate attention with their first demo, Rising of the Winter Full Moon (2007). Their rapid rise in the metal underground caught the attention of Profound Lore Records, leading to a record deal and the release of debut album, The Ghost of Heritage, in 2008. This marked the beginning of their journey to international acclaim. With the release of their second album, The Mercian Sphere, under Candlelight Records in 2010, Winterfylleth solidified their position in the metal realm, propelling them to international success. Subsequent albums, including The Threnody of Triumph (2012), The Divination of Antiquity (2014), and The Dark Hereafter (2016), continued to showcase their musical evolution and storytelling prowess.
In 2017, Winterfylleth commemorated their 10 year anniversary with a tour and then in 2018 unveiled their sixth album, The Hallowing of Heirdom, a departure from their signature sound as they delved into acoustic folk music - a theme that had previously been explored to lesser extent on their other albums, but never as a full conceptual album. Drawing inspiration from ancient folklore, pastoral poetry, and early British customs, the album offered a unique and captivating musical experience. Their 2020 release, The Reckoning Dawn, made a significant impact, reaching no #75 on the UK Top 100 albums chart and claiming the #7 spot on the rock/metal charts in the UK. Winterfylleth's commitment to storytelling through music and their innovative fusion of metal with traditional folk influences continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
In late 2023, Winterfylleth were privileged to have a chapter dedicated to the history and impact of the band included in the landmark publication, Black Metal: Evolution of the Cult by Dayal Patterson. A key moment for the band that cements their status as a leading force in global black metal - within what is probably the most important document about the genre of all time.
Over nearly two decades, the band have shared stages with renowned acts such as Enslaved, Behemoth, Decapitated, Emperor, Gaahls Wyrd, Alcest, Cradle of Filth, Primordial, Gaerea, Panopticon and more, gracing festivals worldwide including Prophecy Fest, Inferno, Ragnarok, Roadburn, Wacken Open Air, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, Graspop, and Bloodstock Open Air. Their music has garnered critical acclaim globally, earning them magazine covers and prestigious awards, including a Metal Hammer Golden God.
