Roopam Garg launches DARK

DARK, (Roopam Garg), is an experimental composer and guitar player who has already carved his own territory of futurism and innovation in music.

Drawing inspiration from numerous strains of human inquiry - architecture, geometry, nature, philosophy, and meditation - DARK’s approach to music reflects the restless and ceaselessly pursuing nature of consciousness.

DARK can be described as the coming together of two opposing worlds - the world of real, organic and tactile signals of the guitar, and the world of abstract, supple ambient soundscapes.

The merging of these two worlds presents music that can best be described through a cloud of sensations and aesthetics: ambient. abstract. drone. experimental. existential. minimal. noise. textures. avant-garde. industrial. surreal. lo-fi. spaces. atmospheres. pulses. organic. fluid. electronic. tape. stillness. meditation. anxiety. sleep. dissonant. introspective. progressive. light. dark.

The music of DARK is less about harmonic content and more about experience. It serves as a lens in which to look at the world through - to change one’s relationship with the internal and external.

Roopam commented “I want my music to integrate with conscious experience. I want the music to almost disappear and permeate the environment.” 

Berklee Alumnus Roopam Garg has been turning the heads of musical elites with his unique approach to the guitar and resulting compositions throughout the latter part of the 2010s. Guitar World regards Roopam and his collaborators as "masters of weaving together songs that are simple yet complex, melodic yet highly technical" . Roopam has also joined the exclusive group of virtuoso guitarists endorsed by Tosin Abasi's Abasi Concepts guitar company. 

With a clear vision of his own musical evolution, Roopam Garg is set to be one of the most innovative forces of the 2020s with DARK.
