The band's vocalist Rich comments:
"I think Phil Collins is one of the best British songwriters of all time. I've always loved 'In the Air Tonight' and remember hearing it vividly as a child. Something about the general vibe and ambience of the song always stuck with me.
I love everything about it from a songwriters point of view, it has the structure, the dynamics, the emotion and that incredible drum intro. I've been toying with the idea of doing something with it but was always scared to touch the song as it's loved by so many people. It seemed like the right time so I started work on my take on the song. I wanted to pay homage to it but make sure it had that classic OA sound and I'm really happy with how its turned out."
The new single kickstarts the independent and unsigned band's new era. Following 3.5 million streams of debut LP, Night Sky (2017), OF ALLIES are back with a bang. Expect news on LP 2 shortly.
OF ALLIES have already caught the eyes and ears of other notable UK press and industry, including Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, and radio play on Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show, Alex Baker's Kerrang! Radio Fresh Blood show and BBC Introducing. The band have also found success on Spotify Official playlisting with previous singles '17', 'Lost Not Found', and 'Glass House'.
This comes as no surprise as the band boast an undeniably British stamp; a thick, multi-layered sound that is fast becoming OF ALLIES' trademark. For fans of Twin Atlantic, Breaking Benjamin, Deftones, Lower Than Atlantis and Fightstar, OF ALLIES tread the lines between alternative rock, melodic rock and UK rock whilst always hinting at something darker.
