Track and Field are a band with a punk rock past, seemingly at odds with their melodic present. The indie emo four piece from Leeds, UK, features current and ex-members of The Plight and grindcore outfit The Afternoon Gentlemen – strange bedfellows for a band whose sound has been described by Glasswerk as having “hazy melodic vibes... not since Taking Back Sunday’s debut record have we heard emo that’s been this well executed.”

The hardcore scene was an essential proving ground for the band, allowing them to sharpen their skill-set to a knifepoint before they began to cut a path out of their comfort zone with Track and Field. Between them, frontman and guitarist Michael Grogan, guitarist Jonathan Kirk, bassist Daniel Comlay and drummer John Defenzi have played in over 100 cities across 15 countries, on more than 20 tours. As part of The PlightTrack and Field members have played Reading and Leeds and Download Festival, while The Afternoon Gentlemen have sold over 8,000 physical records worldwide. These are no rookies, and their experience shows in their work with Track and Field

In 2015, Track and Field self released their first EP You Are My Home. The EP’s single ‘World’ was played by Daniel P Carter on his BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, and off the back of it the band trended on both the AOL homepage and in the Huffington Post’s UK news section. The EP is cinematic and introspective, showing an emotional and musical maturity that the band have continued to on build ever since.

Their work may seem far removed from the DIY stages their punk and grind projects inhabit, but the principles are the same. Their indie rock is honest and hard-hitting, emotional and charged with adrenaline.
